Natural Red Velvet Using Beetroot

Dah lama nak cuba ber-eksperimen dgn beet root ni,since sebelum final exam semester 7.Hehe!All these are encourage by my sister who love to use natural color/flavor and so called organic foods for her baby and our family.Btw, dekat Mesir menimbun dan murah sangat-sangat beet root ni, sekilo dalam RM 1.00 ++,kalau kat Msia agak mahal la jugak beet root ni kan.

Actually, i've been introduced with this antioxidants-rich beet by my mom.She was diagnosed with carcinoma in situ of breast cancer,and alhamdulillah she had done for mastectomy to remove the whole breast and lump in 2010 and she's survive.Alhamdulillah mak dapat kesan awal.

eh ke laut sudah.hehe.Ok jom tengok resipi.The best part is,beet root make the cake more moist and smell good even i didn't put any vanilla essence in the batter!yeayyyy!!!tak berhenti la mengunyah dapat pulak frosting dengan cheese kan,hehehe :p

it just turned to red-brownish cz i am just use 4 small crushed beetroots.pity me.sobss


Natural Red Velvet using Beetroot 

2 1/2 C tepung kek yang dah diayak
1/2 tsp garam
2 tbsp baking powder
2 tbsp serbuk koko
1/2 C unsalted butter - i used 3/4 C oil
1 C gula
2 biji telur
1 tsp esen vanilla
1 C buttermilk ( 1 C susu + 2tbsp cuka, biarkan 10 min )
2 C beet root puree ( without adding the buttermilk)-kalau dah campur buttermilk it might turn to 4C i think.pandai2 lah adjust ehh.heee


1 tsp cuka @ white distilled vinegar
1 tsp baking soda/baking powder


Cara-cara
  1. Preheat oven: 175 c.
  2. Ayak tepung, serbuk koko, baking powder,garam dalam satu bekas.Ketepikan
  3. Campurkan buttermilk dengan puree beetroot
  4. Pukul butter/oil  dan gula sampai kembang.Masukkan telur satu per satu.Masuk satu pkul pastu masuk lagi satu.Tambah esen vanila.
  5. Masukkan bahan ayak dan buttermilk secara selang seli ke dalam no 4. ( tepung~buttermilk~tepung).Kaup balik sampai adunan betul2 sebati.
  6. Dalam mangkuk kecil,masukkan baking soda/baking powder + cuka sampai ada bubbles dan masukkan cepat2 dalam adunan batter tadi.Kacau sebati
  7. Tuang ke dalam springform dan bakar pada suhu 175-180C,25-35 mins.
  8. Sejukkan atas redai baru belah dua,sebelum letak cheese frosting.

Cream cheese frosting: 

250gm cream cheese
30gm butter / 2-3tbsp butter
1 sudu besar perahan lemon @ lime
1 sudu besar esen vanilla
1 sudu besar susu segar
100gm gula ising
  
Cara-cara
1) Pukul cream cheese sampai kembang.
2) Masukkan butter+susu+gula icing+lemon+vanilla
3) Pukul sampi fluffy


*to make beet root puree : peel off the skin and roast at 350 degrees for 30 mins, add 1/2 C of water after 10 min.Blend it with the buttermilk mixture till fine.

hehe.banyak nya soalan..dibah tatau la nama dia dalam bahasa melayu,memang kami panggil beet root,tak tahu la nak classified into sayur or fruits.hehehe.yg pastinya dlu2 rebus n minum air dia je utk antioxidant source,boleh lah makan,dah buat kek ni.hehehe,tapi kalau makan raw tasteless,tawar kelat2 sket.

kat kedai buah depan rumah korang tu ada byk.slalunya ada dengan daun skali depa jual,jgn makan daun dia.pahit.

ahaks.mestilah along,kalau tak utk satu kek yg besar ni,kene tuang 1.2 bottle of pewarna merah~uuuuuuuu.tak sanggup xD

Assalammualaikum, ciput je kek tu? dah kena ngap ye? akak tak pernah cuba lagi beet root ni, ada ke kat bakery Malaysia? hehe..malas betul nak mengoogle sb kalau beli tapi tak guna, kena sound dgn cik abe...

tinggal ciput je sbb yg lain dah kena ngap dengan kawan2.hehe.beet root ni kalau kat msia dia jual di section sayuran/buahan.Dekat kedai kek takde rasanya :)
